What is Train Inside Out?

We are a gym with a difference.

The concept is simple. We’ve created a gym right on the edge of a state-of-the-art 4G rugby pitch using container units which have been specifically engineered to fit our exact requirements.
Unlike most conventional gyms, having access to the turf allows us to add loads of different elements to our workouts and we’ll be embracing the great outdoors (ok, maybe we’ll stay undercover sometimes when it rains).

The idea for the gym came about through a need for Rosslyn Park rugby club to improve the training facilities for its players, having been training in a changing room for as long as they can remember (fitting 22 rugby players in there was a bit like cramming an elephant into a mini). We thought; hey, we can help with that!

Together we decided it would be fantastic if we could offer an awesome gym to members of the local community, as well as providing a first rate training facility for the players. And that’s how the idea came about.

The training needs of a rugby player and any normal person aren’t a different as you might think. Yes, rugby players are training towards specific performance goals, but the fundamentals of improving functional movement, strength and capacity really aren’t that different. This doesn’t mean our classes will be rugby based – not at all – but we’ll use very similar kit, and often similar movements. As a member of Inside Out you can expect to be lifting weights, pushing prowlers, jumping on boxes, running, rowing and doing some cool gymnastics too.

You’ll notice that we don’t run classes on Tuesday or Thursday nights; that’s because that is when the players train and our gym gives them the ability to go straight from a weights session to skills on the pitch, meaning the coaches can have an eye over the whole squad, rather than having to hop between the pitch and the cupboard gym.

We believe that fitness should be FUN and EFFECTIVE in equal measure and we run group classes for all levels. Every class is led by qualified and experienced coaches who will make sure you’re moving safely, scaling appropriately and getting the optimum stimulus from your workout. Our classes are designed so you could have a CrossFit Games athlete training alongside a 90 year old great-grandma. Yes, the movements, load and intensity would be different, but they’d both be getting a great workout and the sense of camaraderie is a key component of our classes.
