Member of the Month: February
Each month we select one member who embodies what we’re all about and who’s a joy to have in class. Our first female MOM of the new decade is the lovely Izzy Fateh!
Since joining TIO last summer she’s seen phenomenal increases in strength and skill and is always front of the pack when there’s running involved.
Here’s what Izzy had to say when I asked her about her TIO experience to date…
How did you first get involved with TIO?
Jonny, my fiance, went to a session at the start of last summer, came home hooked and said I should try it out! I have always been a runner and said I wouldn’t lift weights… but look at me now, I love it!
What’s your most memorable CrossFit moment so far?
I managed to do a 100kg deadlift – it was all credit to the coaching!
What’s your favourite workout/movement?
I absolutely love deadlifts and any workout with rowing (both of which I hadn’t done before joining TIO)
…and your least favourite?
My nemesis is shoulder to overhead
What’s your number one CrossFit goal this year?
My goal this year is to improve my upper body strength and to get a pull up – everyone else makes it look so easy!
What do you do when you’re not at the gym?
I play netball in the winter and mixed touch rugby in the summer. Aside from those activites (and work) I like to visit the various coffee shops around Barnes and get out of London to see family who live in the West Country.
One thing people might not know about you is…
I draw and paint in my spare time, these days it’s mostly table plans for weddings!
If you could give a new member one piece of advice, what would it be?
Listen to and trust the coaches to get the technique, then push yourself a little bit further every session – you are stronger than you think!
Iz, you are an utter joy to have in class and we can’t wait to see what 2020 brings!
